One benefit of presenting at NCUR® is the opportunity for students to publish their work in the Conference Proceedings. These are produced annually by the University of North Carolina at Asheville and distributed to institutions across the nation. All student presenters at the Conference (including students in the performing/visual arts) are invited to submit manuscripts for review by the Proceedings Board. Submitting work to the Proceedings has many advantages, two of which are deemed especially important: [1] the opportunity to receive comments from faculty outside your college or university, thereby enhancing the paper for submission to other sources in your field, and [2] the opportunity to list your publication on your résumé for graduate and professional school applications.
Submissions by mail: Papers to be considered for the Conference Proceedings must be postmarked no later than March 14, 2005, to avoid a late fee. A $30 processing fee must accompany all submissions. Papers postmarked March 15, 2005, or later will require an additional $30 later fee ($30 processing + $30 late fee = $60 total). The deadline for mailing papers to the Proceedings Office is March 31, 2005. Submissions postmarked after March 31, 2005, will be considered but not reviewed prior to the conference.
Submissions by hand: Students wishing to submit a paper after March 21, 2005, may do so without incurring a second late fee by personally delivering the paper to the Proceedings Desk at the 2005 conference during normal working hours on Thursday and Friday, April 21 and 22.
The final opportunity to submit a paper by hand is Saturday, April 23. Papers submitted Saturday, April 23, 2005, will be subject to a second late fee of $25 ($30 processing + $30 first late fee + $25 second late fee = $85). No papers will be accepted after 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, April 23, 2005.
Details regarding the Proceedings will be mailed to the accepted presenters in February. Primary authors will receive a copy of the Proceedings without additional charge. Please direct questions to Associate Editor Mila Lemaster at the Proceedings Office, (828) 251-6122, or mlemaster@unca.edu
